#momlife schedule pre-covid

Working parents need a number of things to be successful in their daily lives and many times they all can’t happen at once. One thing I do know is that there are a few critical pain points that most parents need in order to thrive in their personal and professional journeys.

  1. Autonomy of their schedule

  2. Flexibility

  3. Empowerment in their career path

With 2021 upon us, #1 autonomy and #2 flexibility have been game changers for my family in this new year post-covid. It has supported the way our daily life functions. Our productivity and time management are better for our wellbeing, our family schedules, and the way we work.

Without these critical pieces, you can almost guarantee that women will seek another job, leave the workforce or start their own business. We are at a crossroads today in work culture. We have invested and talented women that have options. Companies hold a golden ticket to create leadership, sustainable change and productive workplaces with wellbeing as a priority and retention tool.

My life dramatically shifted for the better from 2019 to 2021 and I will share with you that it was not about my kids getting a bit older or anything easier. My husband and I now have autonomy and ownership over our work schedule and how it plays out in real time for our family. You don't have to go through my minute to minute schedule. #workingmoms and #pumpingmoms, it's a lot. But more importantly, I want to see a new way forward for our kids.

My kids now get to see Mom more centered and happy. All it took was some minor adjustments in my schedule. I always knew if provided more flexibility to start a bit later and work from home, all the rest of the pieces would fall into place. I say this because, it's important as new parents to find what works for you and your family. It's not going to look the same for all. I gained about 3-4 more hours on the front end and the back end to support my family in a way that is game-changing. Raising young humans needs flexibility, compassion and a schedule that works. If you want to see the one that didn't work, check out 2019. My hope is that for my daughters, 2021 and beyond will be a brighter path. I personally like my 2021 schedule much better and I'm grateful for it.

Does anyone else remember pumping in a closet? Or having five hundred bags to carry to work on the train?

What does your work schedule look like after your babies came?

This pandemic is paving a new way for us to work, live and be. May it be celebrated!
