13 steps I took to heal, realign, and prioritize myself—after burnout

In no glamorous order, I took these steps to heal, realign, and prioritize myself after the little babies came. This was a 9 month process of digging myself out of burnout. I'm sure there are more things!

Note: I didn’t do these all at once! The most critical step was: Just begin.

  1. Pelvic floor therapy

  2. Acupuncture

  3. Therapy (individual)

  4. Started writing and committing to creativity

  5. Radical self care + morning routine

  6. Yoga / meditation

  7. Eft tapping and positive affirmations

  8. Boundary setting (saying no) for events, things and stuff while building energy back

  9. Crafting what I do want, not what I don’t want

  10. Purging and releasing things that don’t serve me anymore. Created space

  11. Created space in my kitchen

  12. Organization for the home

  13. Making 15 minutes a night a priority with partner

If this list doesn’t say holy rehab for a vacant working mom, not sure what else does. What I will say is that we bless the mess and while it may be raw and vulnerable to share, this is what happened and I needed to go through it to help me to create a better daily living. You can too. You have to start thinking about HOW you want to live your life now and begin. Living a life on your family, friends or what you’re supposed to live terms is NOT YOUR LIFE.

What would it FEEL like to you to start living the freedom and full experience of a life that MAKES you happy? Makes a lot more sense!

This may seem like a simple list but working moms all around the country struggle with burnout, logistics, stress of their jobs and just “trying to do it all.” The physical, mental, emotional toll that working full time and raising a young family is challenging and can easily lead to burnout.

While we may be emerging into a more remote or hybrid model for work, it’s a still a great time to reflect on the rhythms of your overall wellbeing and health and how that relates to your line of work.

If you’re a working mom that is post-maternity leave and in your child-bearing years, I see you and know the raging waters that you navigate.

Reach out if I can help you create the work and balance in your life that you desire!
